Gladesville Men's Bowling Club in Sydney

Gladesville Bowling and Sports Club in Sydney offer social and mixed bowls and various lawn bowls competitions.

For the 2008 season the club have nominated teams to play in four State Pennants grades in the Sydney North West Zone 10 competitions.

Bowls club membership is only AUD $50 this includes the R.N.S.W.B.A. fee ($33), the Sydney North West Zone 10 Bowling Association fee ($9.00), and our Club Membership Fee ($4.00) and Locker Fee ($4.00).


Pennant Inter-Club Competitions

Gladesville Bowling Club has keen and competitive pennant players. The various pennants grades provide a great opportunity to develop team play and individual growth. For those interested in competing in the State Pennants competitions, there are two competitions played during the competition seasons.

The 1st competition being the men's Saturday afternoon state pennants competition, which is scheduled for play in the Sydney North West Zone 10, from 23rd February 2008 until 10th May 2008 with the finals to be played between 17th May 2008 to the 18th May 2008.

The 2nd competition being the Mid Week Triples competition which is scheduled for play from 2nd June 2008 until 6th August 2008 with the finals to be played between 13th August 2008 and the 27th August 2008.

men's lawn bowls club Prior to the commencement of the competition seasons a number of trial games are played against other clubs in the zone. Players are then graded according to their ability, i.e. Skips, Thirds, Seconds & Leads.

Social Bowls

The Men's Bowls Club plays social bowls every Saturday and Wednesday Afternoons at 1.00 p.m. Nomination sheets are posted on the notice board Every week. On Saturday single name entries are entered for play, dress is Creams. Wednesday's are team nominations (single names accepted), dress Is smart casual. The cost to play social bowls is $5 being $3 green fees and $2 for the jackpot. A lucky rink is drawn on each day with the winters of that rink winning a $5 voucher. The jackpot winner is ascertained when the winning margin for each rink is entered in the lottery machine, then a number is drawn at random to determine which rink wins the jackpot.

Bowls Planner - calendar 2007

The Men's Bowls Club also organises the Mixed Bowls events which are played on the second and last Sunday afternoons of each month commencing at 1.00 p.m. Nomination sheets for single names entries are posted on the board two weeks prior to the day. Play is triples with players graded into Skips, Seconds and Leads then into teams. Points are awarded to each team in the following manner 1 point for each end won, 1 bonus point for winning an end by a margin of 4 or more and 3 points for winning the game. Prize monies are determined by the Men's Bowls Club Management Committee.

During November and December the Turkey Triples sponsored event is played on five Sunday afternoons with the winners of event on that day receiving a Turkey for Christmas.


Twilight Bowls

During daylight savings Twilight evening bowls is played on Tuesdays at 5.00p.m. The format is mixed triples. Nominations are teams or single names. Plays are over 16 ends, dress is smart casual. The cost is $5 to cover $3 green fees and $2 for the jackpot. The lucky rink winners receive a $5 voucher. A random number is generated and if it matches the winning margin on any rink then the players on that rink win the jackpot.



Lawn Bowls Coaching

Free Lawn Bowls coaching is available by arrangement with the Club coaches. All bowlers or members intending to take up the sport of lawn bowls are encouraged to avail themselves to the service to help improve your game.
